Back in Charleston...

...just a short post, we made it to Charleston from Deltaville, Va.  This was a slow trip down the waterway, adverse winds and weather keeping us in some anchorages for days...some pictures upcoming as we have good internet access here.

Everything OK here in post Irene at Deltaville Boatyard....

just a quick note to say we made it through storm Irene with only lots of pine needles and small branchlets on the decks...the boatyard here never lost power...

Hauled out in Deltaville...just in time for storm Irene...

well...two weeks ago we hauled out in Deltaville, Virginia to work on the boat...and be out of hurricane country down south...now we are right in the path of Irene...!!  the Deltaville Boatyard has been hauling boats for days and is now packed with boats.  We have stripped off canvas and sails and tied things down.  Now we must just wait to see how bad it will get...here are some pictures of deltaville and some pictures of our trip north from Florida...

July 4th in St Augustine

...we are here in St Augustine til after july 4th..then on to Fernandina beach and farther north...got a break in the afternoon thunderstorms for a few days, it's been beautiful here!

...we finally left Stuart and after a couple of days at Peck Lake to clean the bottom of the boat and the dinghy, we are on our way north...we are presently at a mooring in Vero Beach...lots of thunderstorms in the afternoon...

Down the Keys....

...winds have been blowing strongly from the east for days, keeping us from jumping over to the Bahamas...so we headed down the keys and are presently at Marathon.  A bus goes to key west so we spent a day there...unsure of the next step...it is getting late to go to the bahamas, so we may head back north...

Anchored in Miami Beach

We left Lake Worth late yesterday afternoon and made a slow, bumpy, overnight run to Miami, getting anchored near Palm island behind Miami Beach, across from the port of Miami cruise ship terminal early this morning...(sent via WINMOR)

anchored in Lake Worth, Fl.....we finally left Stuart..!!

We finally left Stuart, Fl today and made our way south on the waterway to Lake Worth, Fl where we are anchored for the night. We may leave for Miami tomorrow or the next day. (sent via WINMOR on HAM SSB)

Stuart, Florida

we have finally made it to warm weather in our adopted homeport of Stuart, Florida.  We will be here for another week or two finishing up some projects and paperwork and then move down south to the keys and over to the Bahamas....

Anchored in Titusville

...after spending a rainy, windy, bumpy day at anchor in Daytona Beach, we left this morning and made it to the anchorage off of Titusville marina, and the sun finally came out and the winds have subsided...we leave tomorrow morning hopefully for points further south...

...made it to St Augustine...where it was rainy and foggy, today it is supposed to clear and we will head into town...probably continue south tomorrow...

Finally in Florida...!

we are presently in Fernandina Beach marina waiting out the rain and daily fog...tomorrow it may rain but maybe no fog so we will head towards Saint Augustine, we'll see how far we get!!

we finally left the dock...!!!

well, yesterday, after the ice melted off the deck and projects still undone, we cast off the docklines and headed south...made it to the south Edisto river to anchor for the night, 44 degrees in the cabin this morning, and are now in the port royal marina in Beaufort, SC for the night...(with the little heater running!!)...click on our position link to see where we are...it's updated whenever I can get a good ham (shortwave) connection...

chainplates finally done !!

...well, chainplates are all in, sail is back on the furler, and we have one week to get ready to head south before paying another month here...hopefully no more 20 degree days before we leave...

Another Really Cold, Cold day in Charleston...!

...well, this morning found S/V Grace still in Charleston with freezing rain and ice on the decks and rigging...the marina duck came looking for a handout in the nasty weather...






...the chainplate project still continues, with all but two having been replaced so far, when done all standing rigging from the top of the mast to the chainplates will be new...












we still plan to head south as soon as the chainplates and a few other things are completed...
